Hazel tree (Corylus avellana)

This tree has fluffy catkins in winter /early spring and slightly serrated leaves that turn yellow in autumn. It produces edible green hazelnuts.

You can grow this tree in full sun or partial shade. It will reach 8 metres if left to grow as a tree, but it is commonly coppiced for firewood so it can be pruned to fit your space.
